Our Development function, which delivers all of Heathrow's capital projects, is responsible for the safe and sustainable delivery of quality infrastructure for our passengers and customers. Over the past ten years, the team has been responsible for delivering over £11 billion of investment in a diverse portfolio of projects, including brand new terminals, car parks, airline lounges, baggage facilities, air-bridges, retail units, and tunnels.

Working with the Development function, LHR Building Control Services is a leading Approved Inspector, focusing upon providing assurance services in our large and complex airport environment. Building Control ensures that minimum technical standards for building works are achieved to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of our passengers, colleagues and partners, and to conserve fuel, power and water.

Your role will involve:

  • Playing a leading building control role on smaller projects, and supporting building control assurance for work packages of major projects, across the airport - ensuring that projects consistently comply with building regulations
  • Completing building control activities to meet prescribed performance standards, complying with Building Control's internal ISO 9001 Quality Management processes and systems
  • Engaging regularly with project teams to undertake building control assurance across pre-planning, design and implementation
  • Supporting change and improvement within Development, sharing learning to improve the efficiency, cost and quality of Heathrow's delivery of capital projects

We’re looking for people who have:

  • A full relevant professional building control qualification, such as RICS, CABE, IStructE, CIBSE (or a development plan leading to membership)
  • Post-qualification non-domestic building control experience in the public / private sector
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiations
  • An understanding of fire-engineered solutions and quality management systems
  • Good IT skills
