37 hpw. Primarily based at the Lowestoft office.
On 1 April 2019, we will become East Suffolk Council, a new 'super district' authority, replacing Suffolk Coastal and Waveney. It will be the largest district council in the country, providing high quality services to a quarter of a million people across east Suffolk.
Our councils and the partnership are exciting places to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to those who need them most.
A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen for a professional to take on this challenging role as part of the new Ipswich and East Suffolk Building Control Partnership.
Reporting to a Building Control Team leader, we are looking for an experienced Building Control Professional to help maintain the high-quality Building Control Service. The position is based at the Lowestoft office, but could include work across the partnerships areas of Ipswich, Suffolk Coastal and Waveney.
You will be responsible for the delivery of Building Regulation requirements and related services within a geographic area but will be flexible enough to support other areas as required. We demand a high level of customer care and the ability to develop new business opportunities in order to maintain our self-financing service.
You will possess good interpersonal and communication skills, be experienced in plan examination and site inspection relating to Building Regulation applications. Your role will include administration of demolition and dangerous structure legislation, including out of hours emergency cover.
Ideally, you will be a full member of the RICS or ABE or be working towards full membership to which full support will be offered.
In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we'll give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There's also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose-built, brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
* (career grade), plus essential car user allowance.
