NHBC has a great opportunity for a Standards Manager to join the Standards and Technical team based in Milton Keynes. You will be on a full time permanent contract, with a highly competitive salary of £43,500 - £48,500 per annum. This is an important and influential role, offering the chance for the right person to build on their solid reputation within the house-building industry. The Standards Manager will be responsible for a team of Technical Officers in the delivery of the technical enquiries service, and will develop and promote NHBC’s technical policy, including NHBC Standards and supporting guidance. They will also organise and manage the technical committees involved in the development of the NHBC Standards and foster strong relationships at a senior level. About The Standards Manager Role You will: - Using a range of metrics and through industry feedback, identify technical matters relevant to the house-building industry and NHBC’s purpose, and look for solutions through the development of technical guidance. - Develop, maintain and update the NHBC Standards for new and newly converted homes, ensuring that they are accurate, current and relevant. - Develop and publish internal and external technical information, guidance and communications in support of the consistent interpretation of the NHBC Standards. - Promote and communicate changes to NHBC’s technical policy through direct contact with customers and presenting at seminars, etc. - Recruit, motivate and manage a high calibre professional team (typically 5 direct line reports). - Manage the resolution of Standards-related issues and enquiries - internal and external to NHBC. - Ensure the efficient and professional delivery of the technical enquiries service. - Represent NHBC on external technical and regulatory groups and panels such as BSI committees, trade association technical committees etc. - Provide the secretariat for committees including: Standards Review Group, Technical Subcommittees (Scotland and Northern Ireland) and technical working groups. About You Essential requirements for the Standards Manager You will: - Be a corporate member of a relevant professional institution. - Have a well-rounded knowledge of current house-building methods and technologies. - Have line management experience, with a track record of developing people and processes. - Be a credible ambassador with strong advocacy skills and the ability to deliver NHBC’s message, even in challenging situations. - Have a customer-facing approach that finds solutions. - Possess Strong networking skills. - Have excellent writing skills and the ability to draft articles to publication standard. - Be able to prioritise and deliver projects on time. - Have the flexibility to travel throughout the UK and Europe, often at short notice, including short term stays away from home.
